CAN is a popular industrial protocol, and TCP is a widely accepted enterprise protocol. An attractive system implementation for industrial control would bridge these two protocols. This article describes the TCP-to-CANopen specification, a new initiative from CAN in Automation (CiA) to standardize gateway protocols.
