PrismTech's OpenSplice DDS Middleware Supports OMG's RTPS Interoperability Protocol
4 months 1 week away
(EMBARGOED)

Boston, MA, USA – 23 June, 2008 — PrismTech™, a leader in high-performance middleware and development tools, announced that its OpenSplice™ DDS middleware product suite now supports the Object Management Groups™ (OMG™) Real-Time Publish-Subscribe (RTPS) Wire Protocol. RTPS is designed to enable on-the-wire interoperability between Data Distribution Services (DDS) implementations. The RTPS plug-in will be available to the general public with the next release of the product, OpenSplice DDS v4.1, later this year.

“Interoperability is key for enabling the integration of systems that rely on different DDS implementations,” said Richard Soley, Ph.D., chairman and CEO of the OMG™. “This is particularly important for systems-of-systems, network-centric and next-generation architectures where DDS offers significant performance advantages. In these architectures, it is likely that many DDS implementations may be used and DDS interoperability will be crucial.”

PrismTechs OpenSplice DDS offers the industrys leading DDS implementation. It is the highest performing—low-latency, real-time, massively scalable—publish/subscribe middleware available. It enables mission-critical application integration through data distribution and event-driven processing.

“DDS interoperability is now a reality. We are excited to have played a key role in providing the market with the first interoperable publish/subscribe middleware,” said Angelo Corsaro, Ph.D., OpenSplice DDS marketing manager, PrismTech. “This clearly demonstrates our continued commitment in making DDS a successful technology and providing value to our customer base, enabling them to smoothly integrate existing DDS-based applications with new systems based on OpenSplice DDS.”

DDS is the first open international middleware standard that directly addresses interoperable publish-subscribe communications for real-time and embedded systems. It is based on a publish-subscribe architecture designed to meet the high performance, hard real-time requirements of widely distributed mission critical systems. It ensures that the right data gets to the right place at the right time.
