TEMPE, AZ, January 31, 2006. EmbeddedPlus Engineering today announced “Systems Modeling and Simulation Toolkit (SMST) for the IBM Rational Software Development Platform,” an add-in to the Eclipse-based IBM RSDP which provides support for SysML and the ability to execute and simulate UML and SysML models. SMST will support IBM's new Rational Systems Developer product and help large scale programs govern their systems and software development.

SysML is a modeling language for systems engineering and has been created by extending the Unified Modeling Language (UML) with systems domain specific constructs, diagrams, and features. EmbeddedPlus SMST, in conjunction with IBM Rational's modeling tools (Software Architect/Modeler and Systems Developer), provides the ability to directly import Rose models and with a single click, upgrade them to SysML and simulation-capable models.

The simulation capabilities provide engineers with the ability to validate system architectures and make educated tradeoffs early in the design cycle of a system. Engineers can use C++ or Java to describe details of the UML and SysML models and take advantage of the complete integration with the Eclipse Java and C++ Development Tools (JDT/CDT) environment, which provides a seamless design, develop, debug and simulate environment.
