EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE (ESC), BOSTON, Mass., BOOTH #1021, Sept. 13, 2005—For years, Military customers have been eager to build safety-critical applications using Intel's IA-32 architecture. However, no BSP from an RTOS supplier has offered IA-32 support for DO-178B certifiable solutions.
LynuxWorks™ changes all this today by announcing it is the first to offer a BSP that provides a complete, certifiable solution for mil/aero developers seeking to leverage the IA-32 platform. This new BSP will be demonstrated in booth #1021 at the Embedded Systems Conference, taking place in Boston this week.
With the new board support package (BSP), the LynuxWorks' LynxOS®-178 hard real-time, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) operating system offers key features such as time and space partitioning, multiprocess/multi-thread, open APIs, large RAM support—up to 1GB—and C++ enhancements on the Intel® IA-32 architecture.
In addition to featuring a DO-178B level A certification, LynxOS-178 is also POSIX-compliant and offers support for the ARINC 653 APplication EXecutive (APEX), making it an ideal standards-based solution for mil/aero developers seeking to build safety-critical, certifiable applications on the Intel IA-32 platform.
A complete toolset including LynuxWorks Luminosity™, SpyKer™, and VisualLynux™ is available along with the LynxOS-178 BSP.
Luminosity is a full-featured Java™-based IDE tool that is based on the Eclipse platform and provides a fast and easy way to create, edit, compile, manage, and debug embedded and real-time applications.
SpyKer is the first dynamic instrumented system trace analyzer that allows developers to accurately perform event tracing to not only gather, display and interact with data concerning their applications, but also accelerate development and debugging with easy, anytime visibility into their product design process.
VisualLynux is an extension of Microsoft® Visual Studio™ IDE that enables developers to build applications in a Windows®-hosted environment to accelerate development time while improving product performance and quality.
Availability
Initial access to the LynxOS-178 BSP will be available in October 2005 with the first customer shipment to begin in December 2005. Get more information on LynuxWorks' current BSPs and its entire family of royalty-free and hard-real time embedded solutions and design tools.
