Nashua, NH – June 4, 2008 – NextComputing has increased RAM capacity to 24GB on Intel®-based versions of its portable NextDimension computers. Performance of multi-threaded applications and multiple simultaneous functions are enhanced with this memory increase, most notably when it comes to multimedia use.

“Our flextops and rugged portables provide mobility and/or small form factor for a number of industries that utilize performance hungry applications; broadcast media, Military intelligence, test/measurement and medical imaging included. Most of our customers require performance over and above what laptops and many desktops provide. Increasing RAM to 24GB on our Intel versions will decrease bottlenecks and maximize function efficiency for all the applications they run,” explains Bob Labadini, President and CTO of NextComputing.

NextComputings NextDimension Pro and Pro HD, and NextDimension Evo and Evo HD, with up to (2) dual- and quad-core Intel® Xeon® processors offer 24GB RAM. Other features include: up to 3TB internal HDD storage, up to (4) PCI-X/PCIe slots in several configurations, 17" WUXGA+ LCD up to 1920 x 1200 and an optional integrated 17” LCD up to 1920 x 1200 LCD up to 1920x1200.

Users who routinely edit large graphic files or edit Video and audio, such as within broadcast media, stand to gain the greatest performance increase with 24GB RAM. When mobility is a requirement for these user groups, laptops are not adequate, generally maxing out at 4GB RAM. Flextops provide portability for applications requiring more.

About NextComputing: One of the first in a unique breed of technology companies to specialize in extreme-performance, small form factor, portable computing solutions. The company invented the flextop, a personal supercomputer offering an open standards, modular architecture in a package the size of a small briefcase.
