Syracuse, NY – SRCTec was recently awarded a $15.4 million contract from the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command at Fort Monmouth, N.J., to provide 14 Lightweight Counter-Mortar Radar (V)3 systems, as well as associated initial spares.
This is the first production order for the (V)3 variant of the LCMR system. The LCMR (V3) system provides significant performance enhancements over previous iterations of the LCMR system. SRCTec has manufactured and delivered more than 500 LCMR systems of earlier variants to the U.S. Army.
The LCMR system is widely used in combat operations and has proven to be exceptionally effective at detecting and locating the mortar threat that is facing troops in-theatre. The system provides 360 degree coverage and can automatically detect and locate mortar firing positions by detecting and tracking the mortar shell and then backtracking to the weapon position. The LCMR system is a recipient of the U.S. Army’s Top Ten Inventions award, which distinguishes best technological solutions for soldiers, and how these new technologies increase competence for the Army.
The work under this contract will be performed at SRCTec’s North Syracuse headquarters and is expected to be completed by September 2010.
