Modus Operandi Awarded $1.2 Million U.S. Marines Contract for Semantic Intelligence Capabilities
1 month 3 weeks ago

MELBOURNE, FL, Jan. 26, 2010 – Modus Operandi, a leading software and information integration technology company, has been awarded a $1.2 million Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) project by Marine Corps Systems Command to develop a system that will use semantic intelligence technologies to enable analysts to rapidly sort through large amounts of information and find critical patterns that need to be acted upon.

The development project is being performed in collaboration with the U.S. Army Phase II SBIR initiative and will support the common objectives for the Distributed Common Ground System, Marine Corps (DCGS-MC) program and Army Communications-Electronics Command Harmony SBIR using Modus Operandi’s Wave® Exploitation Framework technology to semantically exploit intelligence data sources relevant to the DCGS-MC program.

"Up until only recently, advancements in intelligence-gathering technologies have far outpaced those in the intelligence-sorting area, leaving analysts with a nearly impossible task of manually sifting through enormous amounts of information in order to find a few critical nuggets," said George Eanes, vice president of business development at Modus Operandi. "By using semantic technologies, we can now automate reasoning in computers to analyze data and discover critical clues or patterns in minutes in what used to take analysts days or weeks. Semantic intelligence is a big breakthrough for the government intelligence community."
