Curtiss-Wright Awarded Contract From Lockheed Martin

4 months 3 weeks ago → Contracts

For Delivery of Structural Components and hardware for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter’s Missile Trapeze System

CHARLOTTE, NC – April 13, 2010 – Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc. today announced that it has received a contract from Lockheed Martin to provide structural components and related hardware for the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter aircraft’s Trapeze Hardware System. The Trapeze system, for evaluation in the F-35's system development and demonstration (SDD) phase, will provide the ability to utilize rail-launched missiles carried on a trapeze that swings clear of the F-35's weapon bay.

“Curtiss-Wright is pleased to have been selected by Lockheed Martin to provide hardware and components for this important weapon system,” said David Adams, co-chief operating officer of Curtiss-Wright Corporation. “The ability to support rail launched missiles will enhance the F-35 Lightning II’s mission flexibility.”

Curtiss-Wright will manufacture trapeze hardware system components at the company’s Flight Systems facility in Shelby, NC. The hardware will be shipped to Lockheed Martin‘s facility in Fort Worth, TX. The contract continues through 2012.

The F-35 is a supersonic, multi-role, 5th generation stealth fighter that will enter operational service in 2012.
