Black Diamond Advanced Technology and Liteye Systems Form Partnership

TEMPE, Ariz. and CENTENNIAL, Colo. (June 2010) – Black Diamond Advanced Technology, which produces ultra-rugged computers including the SwitchBackTM, and Liteye, which manufactures microdisplays including head-mounted displays, have formed a reseller partnership. Now Liteye Head Mounted Displays (HMDs), viewfinders, weapons sights and other microdisplays are available on Black Diamond computers, including the ultra-rugged SwitchBack.
“Because our computers are small, lightweight and ultra-rugged, they’re ideally suited for Military applications,” said Justin Dyster, vice president of engineering for Black Diamond. “This partnership with Liteye is a natural fit for our business because it gives our customers ready access to a variety of rugged microdisplays that have been certified to work with our computers.”
“This joint marketing effort will focus on offering both Liteye’s and Black Diamond’s products to our current military market,” said Sir Kenneth Geyer, vice president of business development for Liteye Systems, Inc. “But it will also open up new vertical markets in areas such as repair and maintenance, telemedicine, and materials handling. Our two companies will persistently collaborate on the development of products to fit these new markets.”
This collaboration between the two companies is natural since each focus on customization to meet the needs of the warfighter. Black Diamond’s SwitchBack computer is reconfigurable via its Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), and Liteye’s HMDs can be custom designed and built to suit the end user’s needs.
