Lockheed Martin X-35 Chief Test Pilot Delivers Keynote Address at The MathWorks International Aerospace and Defense Conference

The fifth annual MathWorks International Aerospace and Defense Conference will feature two days of customer presentations, master classes, and seminars from MathWorks experts, and an exhibition featuring MathWorks Connection Partners. Hundreds of conference participants are expected to attend the event.

Tom Morgenfeld, retired X-35 chief test pilot for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, will kick off the conference with a keynote presentation titled "Flying the X-35." Morgenfeld, who joined Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in 1979, served as chief test pilot on the Joint Strike Fighter program where he performed the first flight of the X-35 and tested all three versions of the airplane.

Customer presentations throughout the conference will feature successful implementations of The MathWorks industry-standard MATLAB(R) and Simulink(R) software for aerospace and defense applications from the following organizations: Aerojet, Airbus, Avtec Systems Inc., bd Systems, Inc., Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Edwards Air Force Base, Honeywell International, Lockheed Martin Space Operations, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Raytheon Missile Systems, and the UK Ministry of Defence.

As part of the comprehensive program, experts from The MathWorks will also lead several presentations and master classes on topics including:

-- Handling large datasets efficiently in MATLAB

-- Automatically generating embedded code for control systems

-- Fixed-point DSP modeling, code generation, and verification

for FPGAs

-- Developing Video and image processing applications in Simulink
