Etherstack - a market leader in Wireless protocol stacks worldwide - has developed and fielded a P25 Off Air Monitor (OAM), with NIST (National Institute of Science and Technology) in Boulder Colorado as a lead customer. The OAM allows for up to 4 APCO P25 channels to be monitored at once. This could be 4 traffic channels, or 1 control and 3 traffic channels in the case of trunked systems. Thus, the OAM is a valuable tool to help manufacturers ensure interoperability with products from other companies in both trunked and conventional modes.
Etherstack recently delivered an OAM to Land Mobile Radio communications leader Icom Incorporated. This will be used by Icom in their development and test laboratories in Osaka Japan for ongoing design and testing, and in particular for the monitoring of packet signals to ensure the continued interoperability of Icom's APCO P25 products.
Etherstack and Icom have also partnered to supply several customers the OAM in conjunction with Icom's IC-PCR2500, a PC controlled 0.01~3300MHz wideband receiver. The two are an excellent offering to anyone in the APCO P25 market place.
Icom Inc., was founded in Osaka, Japan. Icom is a publicly held Japanese corporation; its stock is traded on the first section of the Osaka and Tokyo Stock Exchanges. Icom began as an engineering and manufacturing company, making advanced, compact solid-state radio equipment for use by amateur radio enthusiasts. Icom has since grown to become an industry leader with a product line that includes state-of-the-art communications equipment for land mobile and marine use as well as avionics.
