UltraCell Fuel Cell System Passes MIL-STD-810F Environmental Tests
2 years 9 months ago

LIVERMORE, CA -- (June 5, 2007) - UltraCell Corporation, a leading producer of micro fuel cells for mobile power applications, today announced that its XX25 Reformed Methanol Fuel Cell (RMFC) system has passed a series of MIL-STD-810F tests -- a standard approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) -- which measures the environmental reliability of equipment for Military use. The UltraCell XX25 successfully completed MIL-STD-810F tests for altitude, temperature cycling, solar radiation, humidity, dust, vibration, functional shock, acidic atmosphere, and icing and freezing rain. An independent ISO 17025-accredited laboratory in Sunol, California -- ITC Engineering Services -- conducted the tests.

"We believe that the UltraCell XX25 is the first micro fuel cell to undergo MIL-STD-810F tests," said W. Bruce Pharr, UltraCell vice president of marketing. "This milestone further validates our ability to provide the military with the most dependable, rugged fuel cell power source."

The specific tests passed include:

-- Altitude - MIL-STD-810F, Method 500.4, Procedure II and IV

-- Temperature Cycling - MIL-STD-810F, Method 503.4, Procedure II

-- Solar Radiation - MIL-STD-810F, Method 505.4, Procedure I

-- Humidity - MIL-STD-810F, Method 507.4

-- Dust - MIL-STD-810F, Method 510.4, Procedure I and II

-- Vibration - MIL-STD-810F, Method 514.5

-- Functional Shock - MIL-STD-810F, Method 516.5, Procedure I

-- Acidic Atmosphere - MIL-STD-810F, Method 518, Severity "a"

-- Icing and Freezing Rain - MIL-STD-810F, Method 521.2, Procedure I

UltraCell's RMFC technology incorporates a revolutionary micro reformer that reforms a highly concentrated methanol solution to generate fuel-cell-ready hydrogen. For a soldier in the field, the UltraCell system ensures more efficient, reliable mobile power for portable electronic devices anytime, anywhere.
