Objective Interface Systems Announces SCA CORBA Training Course for SDR Developers
2 years 7 months ago

HERNDON, VA—July 23, 2007—Objective Interface Systems, Inc. (OIS), the worldwide leader in high-performance, real-time and embedded communications middleware solutions, today announced that it will join Communications Research Centre (CRC), a premier provider of advanced telecommunications products for software-defined radio (SDR) core frameworks, to offer a training course for developers of SDRs. The CRC-OIS course focuses on two complementary technologies important to SDR development: the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) and Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA). The SCA ensures interoperability among different types of field-based radios—crucial in both Military engagements and humanitarian rescue operations. An understanding of CORBA is important because all SCA-based radios require CORBA for distributed communications.

To complement the training course, CRC and OIS are offering a half-day tutorial on SCA development. Instructors will use CRC's SCARI Software Suite, a commercially available SCA Core Framework, with OIS' ORBexpress® RT, the industry's most widely installed CORBA object request broker (ORB) for SDR development, to go through the SCA development process for a simple application.

“We are pleased to join CRC to offer a training course that addresses the most common technical challenges encountered by SDR designers working with the SCA and CORBA,” said Joe Jacob, Senior Vice President, Objective Interface Systems.

For More Information

CRC and OIS' SCA CORBA training course and tutorial will be held October 2-4, 2007 in Paris (Espace Congrès Cap 15). The cost per-participant of the three-day course, which includes daily lunch buffet, is 995 Euros (approximately US $1,370). Register via Web: www.ois.com/SCAtraining/ or send email to: SCAtraining@ois.com.
