Unmanned Systems Industry Members Receive Prestigious Awards

Arlington, VA -- July 13, 2005 -- The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) would like to announce its 2005 Awards Winners. These individuals were recognized at the Annual Awards Ceremony held during the Unmanned Systems North America 2005 Symposium and Exhibition in Baltimore, Maryland, June 30. Al Aube Outstanding Contributor Award:

This award is presented to a nationally recognized member of AUVSI who figures prominently in the advancement of unmanned vehicle systems in terms of promoting ideas, creating new concepts, directing programs or being directly involved in unmanned vehicle systems development and operation.

2005 Award Winner:

AeroVironment

Member of the Year Award:

This award is presented to an exceptionally dedicated AUVSI member who has made a significant contribution to the objectives of AUVSI through major efforts and/or outstanding performance.

Dr. Jon Bornstein

Operations Award:

This award is presented to a member or non-member directly involved in test and evaluation and/or operational employment of unmanned vehicle systems. The recipient, directing operations for test programs or mission accomplishments and maintenance, should be comfortable with UVS hardware such as vehicles, propulsion systems, guidance/control, electro-optics and launch and support equipment.

Pioneer Award:

This award is presented to a member or non-member responsible for the initiation or sponsorship of programs leading to a demonstration of advanced concepts and innovative ideas in the development of unmanned vehicle systems.
