Tek Microsystems Launches Serial FPDP IP Core Supports Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGAs
2 years 6 months ago

September 12, 2007 – TEK Microsystems, Inc. of Chelmsford MA today announced its new Serial FPDP core with support for Xilinx's Virtex-5 FPGA devices. The sFPDP core is fully compliant to ANSI/VITA 17.1-2003 and provides system developers in real-time imaging, signal processing, data recording and data acquision with high performance industry leading technologies. The new Tekmicro sFPDP V5 core has already been ordered by a large defense integrator and will be shipped this month.

“One of the benefits of FPGA-based products with well-designed IP support is the ability to migrate to newer, higher performance devices without redesigning the application,” comments Andy Reddig, Tekmicro's president and CTO. “The new Serial FPDP core implements an open standard interface maintaining the same carefully designed back end interface, allowing our customers to use a common, modular component across a wide range of form factors, products and technology.”

The sFPDP core is available as an option for any of Tekmicro's Xilinx-based products, including both Virtex II Pro and Virtex 5 products such as the JazzFiber PMC, JazzFiber XMC, and Quixilica family of VXS products. The sFPDP core is delivered complete with a VHDL simulation Model that includes an example reference design with source code to assist Tekmicro customers during development.

The Quixilica family combines the use of a common, FPGA based digital processing baseboard with a wide range of analog input and output mezzanine modules. This architecture allows system designers to adopt this technology with the assurance that future technology upgrades in either the digital baseboard or analog mezzanine can be made easily and cost effectively, protecting their investment in application firmware and software.
