Thales Naval furthers commitments to PrismTech and OpenSplice DDS Middleware
8 months 1 day away
(EMBARGOED)

Boston, MA, USA – 14 November, 2007 — PrismTech™, a leader in high-performance middleware and development tools, today announced that it had signed a significant deal with Thales Naval for its OpenSplice™ DDS middleware. Under the terms of the deal PrismTech will provide Thales Naval with Software Licenses and Professional Services for the OpenSplice DDS middleware which is underpinning Thales Combat Management systems and naval applications including its flagship TACTICOS Net Centric Solution.

This new deal announced today extends the existing PrismTech / Thales strategic relationship by extending the licenses to world-wide Naval operations of Thales.

“We are extremely pleased with our long standing relationship with PrismTech,” said Jan-Erik Rottinghuis, senior vice president and general manager, Above Water Systems/Naval Division, Thales. “We see this new deal for the superior technology of OpenSplice DDS as being very strategic in allowing us to maintain our leading position in the CMS market and to further expand our world-wide coverage.”

“We are pleased that our strategic relationship with Thales continues to grow,” said Keith Steele, CEO, PrismTech. “Thales commitment to OpenSplice DDS for its CMS solution underscores our unique ability to meet the QoS and real-time requirements of highly distributed, mission critical systems.”

PrismTechs OpenSplice DDS is a very high-performance, real-time, data-centric publish/subscribe middleware platform. It uniquely combines data-centric and real-time publish/subscribe capabilities to provide next generation mission and business critical applications with the ideal platform for achieving high performance data distribution and management. OpenSplice DDS delivers the right information to the right place at the right time - all the time.

OpenSplice DDS is the only implementation available on the market, which complies with the full profile of the “OMG Data Distribution Service (DDS) for Real-Time Systems v1.2 Specification”, as it provides a complete implementation of both the “Data Centric Publish/Subscribe” (DCPS) Layer, and of the “Data Local Reconstruction Layer” (DLRL) Layer. This positions OpenSplice DDS as the leading OMG DDS-compliant COTS middleware available on the market.

PrismTech continues to drive innovation, recently adding Security capability to OpenSplice DDS and fueling standardization work, co-authoring the UML profile for DDS specification as well as chairing the OMG™ DDS Special Interest Group.

Thales Naval in The Netherlands, one of the original co-authors of the DDS specification, initially signed a strategic alliance with PrismTech in July 2006 for mission systems software infrastructure, middleware, tools and related services.
